About the Author
Hugh Milne is a third-generation Scottish osteopath. He spends most of professional time teaching visionary craniosacral work in Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, and Switzerland. He was born in 1948 and received his professional training at the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy in London. Repeated and startling clairvoyant revelations before and after graduation led to a determination to learn more about working with the inner eye. This search for higher teachings took him to India, where he lived for seven years. Hugh spent the last fifteen years developing his teaching work. He lives in Big Sur, California, where he is the director of the Milne Institute.

A beautiful book on the pure poetry of healing

This generous book offers stories on healing and awakening from various traditions, both ancient and modern. It puts cranial sacral therapy in place in a long tradition of ancient practices. The author is extremely well read, eloquent, and a fascinating storyteller. When I need inspiration as a healer, I go to this work. It can be read at a surface level for beginners, and there are thousands of opportunities to go deeper for more advanced practitioners. One of my favorite books, and I've read so so many.

Excellent book. As I have practiced Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy for years, i was curious about Visionary Craniosacral Therapy. Many new thoughts to add to my practice. A great book for the person who doesn't practice and wants to gain some insight inot Craniosacral and how the body/mind/spirit work. Thank (God) for people writing books such as these.

The introduction explains that Arctic people have built Inuksuit, stone towers, as guides for thousands of years. They can mark directions, or food caches. They aid hunting, or mark memorials. Each letter of the word "Inuksuk" is given two pages. The first spread shows a boldly colored and textured painting and explains the term. Then each letter is associated with an aspect of Arctic life, e.g., "N is for Nanuq." The word appears in English and in Inuktitut syllabics. The following page gives more information. "N is for Nanuq, the powerful polar bear of the North." A few smaller paintings illustrate sentences about the subject. The back matter includes a reference to the Inuksuit in the book and a pronunciation guide to Inuktitut words. This book succeeds wonderfully as a simple alphabet book and as an exceptional exploration of Arctic life and culture. beautifully illustrated

I used this excellent book to teach yoga through stories with children. Then they built their own inuksuks with blocks. I loved the fact that each form had its own meaning. The children loved the new vocabulary and the pictures.

I Is for Inuksuk: An Arctic Celebration is a fabulous book that provides rich details about life in the Arctic and the traditions of the Inuit people. With it's brightly illustrated pictures, readers learn about the way of life of Inuit and their traditional alphabet. The book also includes a wonderful guide of Inuit pronunciations, as well as words. The author does a wonderful job at teaching readers about the history of the Inuit people, Inuksuk, and she also provides facts about the animals featured in the book. The most fascinating element of the book for me was reading about and learning the native alphabet. I think this is great for classroom and home settings.

"I is for Inuksuk" is a beautiful children's book portraying the traditional lifeways of the Inuit People of Canada. The inuksuit are stone towers built by the Arctic's indigenous people to guide them across snow and ice, or to mark a food source. They are the official symbol of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Every letter of the word "inuksuk" becomes a part of another Inuktuit word which with the stunning paintings of Wallace represent many scenes of Arctic and Inuit life. "I is for Inuksuk" becomes a beautiful ambassador, inviting children and adults to come and learn more about the Inuit and the Arctic. Of particular interest is the use of Inuktuit symbols to write words in one of the official languages of Nunavit.

no access codes - be careful.

This is an awesome book and arrived promptly. The only problem was that the book was sold by Amazon and was advertised as including access codes for the lab. I received it without codes and therefore it was no use to me. The customer service person at Amazon was helpful and they promptly refunded my money. I found out later that it was the right price for the book by itself, and costs slightly more with the codes, so the only error was that it was incorrectly advertised as including the codes. Amazon was helpful and I believe they have since changed the description to accurately reflect that it is the book by itself.

Lots of text, but rather obvious text

Bought for an Introduction to Public Speaking during my Junior year of college. My professor did pretty good lectures, so the book wasn't too useful. There was a lot of text and I honestly don't think reading will make you a better public speaker, only speaking will. It helps you to outline and structure a speech, but for anyone who's gone through middle school and knows how to write a five paragraph essay it can be a little simplistic.

Good Book but doesn't work on kindle app for iphone

I had this book on my kindle fire and worked fine, but I returned my kindle fire and now I can't get the book on my kindle app for iphone. I spent a good bit of money on this book and I thought if it worked on other Kindle apps it would work on my Iphone. I know there is a limit on how many devices you can use it on, but i haven't hit the limit. Please fix this.

Other than that the Kindle version of the book is very good, don't hesitate to buy unless you're an iphone user.

My grandson & I find Miss Spider right up there w/ Doctor Seuss. Even though Tray (grandson) is under thee age of 1 Miss Spider is nice & bright, to keep this hard to entertained youngster focused & Nunka (me) looking forward to daily " Miss Spider time". The messages "She" teaches are those that all children need to learn & adults must never forget. David Kirk, is a name that is highly respected in my home.
