Jan Pienkowski is a celebrated illustrator of children's books. He has won the Greenaway Medal twice for his illustration of Joan Aiken's The Kingdom Under the Sea and for Haunted House. Jan Lives in London.David Walser is a writer, translator, artist and musician. His first book for Puffin was The Fairy Tales, also in collaboration with Jan Pienkowski.

Just Beautiful.

Gorgeous illustrations filled with rich colors of golds, silvers, and reds incorporated on almost every page, large bold print, and a great sample of stories. When you read it you'll definitely be immersed in the vibrant setting of each story. This is my first Calla Edition novel and I can say I am highly impressed. I plan on buying the other version The Arabian Nights (Calla Editions) of these stories so I can compare.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. CHILDHOOD FAVORITES AND I LOVE THE PICTURES! ITS A PRETTY GOOD SIZE. FROM LOOKING AT THE PICTURES I THOUGHT IT WAS SMALL, BUT ITS PRETTY HUGE. LOL...THE PAGES WERE ALL IN GREAT SHAPE, NO TEARS AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE DELIVERY.

Beautiful book with a few peculiarities

The illustrations are wonderful and the telling of the main stories is great, but I wonder why some of the less-well-known stories were chosen from among all the stories in the full 1,001 nights; some of the ones included are downright peculiar. Still, it was a hit overall with my 6-year old boys.
